Lyrics
Can you recall when we were little? The world was not so mean
Life was no big riddle. Red was red and green was green
And little girls were sissies and dad was always right
Mom was never far away and "yes Ma'am" was just polite
Well we fought the battle of the Little Big Horn nearly every summer's day
Seems the indians usually won that game. That's how the grown-ups said to play
But we were known to break the rules and change the game from day to day
"Paleface get 'um fast bikes and outrun 'um red man, and 'um get away"
And we'd ride those bikes like horses through the wild and woolly west
In our short pants and our cowboy boots, and we'd only ride with the best
Well we played all through the summers in a sandlot full of dirt
You indians scalped us cowboys but we never did get hurt
And when the sun set on the battlefield and we'd died a thousand deaths
We'd pick up all the pieces and go home and go to bed
And we'd ride those bikes like horses through the wild and woolly west
In our short pants and our cowboy boots, and we'd only ride with the best
We chased on through the years 'til summer was only warm
And god forbid, we married sissies. But they're not so awful anymore
And our bikes have bigger wheels these days but they'll never be as worn
As the ones beneath the horses that we rode into Little Big Horn
And we'd ride those bikes like horses through the wild and woolly west
In our short pants and our cowboy boots, and we'd only ride with the best
