    Lyrics

    It's been raining since
    Oh, before sunup I guess
And the air is clean and new
And the coffee and the bacon
They've lingered on to greet the noon
And this particular day has managed
To wrap itself up around me
Just like those great big old overalls
We used to wear way back when we was kids

    And the mailman
He comes runnin' up the porch
And stamps his feet out on the mat
And he smiles up from underneath his hat
And chats for just a bit
    Then he takes my bills
    Shakes off the chill
And sets you safely in my hand
You know I'll bet he's awful glad
He wore those rubber shoes of his today
Wet mail is heavy to carry they say

This is my letter to everyone, written to make up for lost time
I'll use all my colored pencils and I'll borrow my best rhymes
Don't you think itÕs bound to change you some?
Don't you think about it coming on?

This is my letter to everyone, written for someone I once knew
Like a favorite fading photograph seems there's so much left to do
Don't you think itÕs bound to change us some?
Don't you think I feel it coming on?

Are you on the run from something you've become?
Are you afraid to change the order?
Are you afraid to find the youth we left behind is through?
Don't you think itÕs bound to change somehow?
Don't you think about it too much now

This is my letter to everyone, all the friends that I have known
Lovers fallen by the wayside. There's never time to go back home
