From the recording The Ice Age
Lyrics
We know the planet’s warming up… and some folks still say it’s flat
We didn’t heed the warning signs… and I’m afraid that it’s not coming back
Humanity is on the brink. Empathy is near extinct
We’re giving up our right to think, and you dare not drink the water
The rich cashed in as the climate changed. Did the poles just shift or did our compass fail?
Fires rage, ice caps melting. Our future got awful necrotic smelling
The Gestapo and the Taliban. Rich, white Christian Americans
Demand we pray the way they say we can, and dictate which knee to take to
Livin’ in the ice age. Got a lock on the Golden Gate
The harbor lady got beat and raped. In the good ol’ USA
Age-old anglo-oligarchs. Oil cartels and patriarchs
Sold the pieces they broke off… In the ice age
They fought and bled in the desert sand. Decorated, heroic selfless hands
But, just not quite enough American. Exiled so far from the promised land
We once held these truths self-evident… but now it seems impossibly irrelevant
We suffer lies of a failing president… and we’re just barely getting by
Livin' in the ice age. We stole her baby, and she got misplaced
She died alone in a border cage. In the land of the free and brave
We’re drowning in a toxic wake. Of this noxious great white rage
Growing cold, but not so sage…. In the ice age
Did the turtleneck go out of style yet? Us common folks would like to breathe a bit
So sick of news that tastes like shit. From that festering self-righteous pit
Profits soar on poisoned futures. Endless greed had best be neutered
And the water’s black with oil and plastic. It’ll burn before it freezes… In the ice age
Livin’ in the ice age. Isn’t it a nice cage?
Concrete and chain-link bays. Keeping hate-fueled fears at bay
I really wish we could burn this page. Make tomorrow a better day
We just can’t let it die this way…. In the ice age
